Bon Air Victorian Day Parade - This Saturday

Posted on May 6 2010 - 8:42am

Just a quick reminder that we are meeting, at the Bon Air Baptist Church, at 10:15 AM on Saturday morning for the parade. Uniform will be Dress Class A: Class A with neckerchief and slide. And, for this event, Scouts who have long pants are expected to wear them.

The parade starts at 11:00 AM and heads down Buford road ends just past the Bon Air Christian Church

Those staying to sell hot dogs may change out of their long pants and put away their neckerchief/slide once the parade has ended.

Excerpts from an email sent, from Jennifer Burruss, of the Bon Air Historical Society, regarding the parade:

SATURDAY, MAY 8, 2010
Rain or Shine ... and the weather looks good!

BON AIR BAPTIST CHURCH
2531 Buford Road

PARADE STARTS PROMPTLY AT 11:00 AM
Please be at the parade lineup no later than 10:30 am, earlier if you are part of a larger group.
I will be at Bon Air Baptist Church beginning at 9 am to ensure all is well and to assist you.

Buford Road will close down for the parade at 10:30 am.

Please carpool as much as possible. There are large groups in the parade this year (and we love it!).

Please use the Church entrance on Forest Hill Avenue as the parade will line up at the Buford Road entrance.
Please note the Bon Air Baptist Church is very active with the local community and has Saturday classes that will be in process while we lineup for the parade. Therefore, the spaces nearest the side entrance of the Church will be blocked off for their class participants.

WALKING GROUPS:
Those who are walking in the parade need to park toward the Forest Hill entrance.
For safety, please have an adult escort children to their assigned space.

PARKING TRANSPORT AFTER THE PARADE:
The Crossings at Bon Air and The Laurels of Bon Air have two resident buses in the parade. One of those buses will be available to transport people from the Festival to Bon Air Baptist Church after the parade.

PARADE LINEUP:
The parade lineup is attached. Please note your position in the parade. Your space in the parking lot will be numbered accordingly. There will be parade volunteers including myself to assist you (big smile!) I will have my cell phone with me at all times.

Bon Air Baptist Church has graciously allowed us the use of their facilities. Please be respectful of their lawn, garden, and restrooms. Thanks!

PARADE ROUTE:
The parade will go out from the Bon Air Baptist Church onto Buford Road and turn left and down Buford Road approximately 1/2 mile.
The parade will turn left onto Rockaway and then left again onto Logan to disband.
Please note you will not be able to turn onto Hazen Street as it will be closed for the Victorian Day Festival.
