Troop Service Project - Tree Planting at St. Michael's Singleton Campus

Posted on Oct 22 2009 - 6:22am

On Saturday morning, the troop has been asked to help plant trees and bulbs at the new St. Michael's Singleton campus. We plan to start at 8:00 AM and will be done by Noon.

Our tasks include:

  • 2 foot deep holes to plant 75 forsythia and verticillata bushes on the hills at St Michaels Middle School
  • 200 flower bulbs across the grounds
  • Possibly some painting - if you have a paint sprayer and are so inclined
  • Trash pickup and debris removal
  • Wear work clothes (no uniform) and bring work gloves. If you have a shovel, rake, or other tools that will help with this work, please bring them, too.

This is an approved community service project for Troop 840.

Please let Rick Chess know when you will be there and what equipment you will be bringing. Call Rick’s office at 474.9879 or email him at rick@chesslawfirm.com.

    All,

Mark your calendars for Scouting for Food - Bags Out and Bags In. We are partnering with Pack 861 and Pack 840 again this year. We'll meet at Bon Air Presbyterian Church, on Huguenot Road (near the intersection of Huguenot and Forest Hill). Bags go out on Saturday, the 31st and bags come in on Saturday 11/07. This is a troop-wide service project and all Scouts are expected to participate. Adults - we'll need drivers both days to help shuttle Scouts and bags into the neighborhoods near St. Michael's.

Sign ups will be taken at the next two Scout meetings and the Fall Court of Honor. Or, you may sign up, on this site, under event registrations.
