Mrs. Parker and Mrs. Doherty are starting the Communications merit badge on Monday, October 2nd. They would like to meet with interested Scouts at 6:45 PM on the 2nd. They will have copies of a worksheet for each Scout. Subsequent meetings will take place every few weeks to give Scout ample time to work on the requirements and to seek feedback on their work.

To all scouts:

If you were not at the August 31 meeting, you missed getting the Popcorn order forms and information about this year's products and schedule. I will be on hand at the September 14 meeting to get you up to speed. To those of you that were at the previous meeting, I communicated that we would probably forgo the prize options in favor of the extra 5% commission added to the base 30% commission from selling. However, work distractions prevented me from submitting this request to the Council office by the proper deadline, so I don't think that it will happen. In the mean time, I am preparing info for you to be able to place orders online with a sign-on and password, so this will help distant friends and relatives support our troop.

We're planning a great camping trip to kick-off the new school year!

Our September trip will be to Westmoreland State Park. The park is located on the 5-mile wide Potomac River, above majestic Horsehead Cliffs, near Montross, Virginia. We will have lots of opportunities for fun and advancement, including a ranger-led fossil hunt (we get to keep what we find!), fishing, hiking, an evening ranger-led nature hike, and possibly boating (tubing and/or wakeboarding). We expect a great turn-out!

Be thinking about the September trip to Westmoreland State Park. We only have one meeting before the trip. Expect to receive your permission slip via email shortly.

When we return on Monday, September 14th, we will be back in Class B uniform. Also, remember that it is dues night.
